ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar on Monday said the Supreme Court will summon Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in case pertaining to DPO Pakpattan Rizwan Gondal’s transfer.
Hearing a suo-moto case regarding Gondal’s ‘mistimed’ transfer, the 3-judge SC bench headed by Justice Nisar quizzed Punjab inspector-general and Punjab government’s counsel.
In his remarks, the CJP said that the Punjab IG should not have let Gondal visit the CM House and warned him of action against him if his decision to transfer Gondal was based on ‘ill-intentions’.
“Do you know what would happen to you if your decision was based on ill-intentions and dictation?” Justice Nisar quizzed.
Nisar added that the apex court will summon CM Buzdar in the next hearing. “Why is the CM not present today? Where is he? We will summon him to appear in the next hearing.”
After reaching the SC earlier today, Maneka said upon questioning by journalists that it was not the appropriate time for media statements.

Gondal was reportedly transferred after he intercepted the speeding vehicle of Khawar Maneka.
According to sources, police personnel tried to stop Khawar at a checkpoint on August 23 but he did not stop. They chased his vehicle and managed to intercept him.
Sources added that Khawar allegedly misbehaved with police and hurled slurs at them when they stopped him.
Subsequently, the Punjab government summoned the DPO on Friday and asked him to seek an apology from Khawar.
The DPO refused to obey the orders, saying police were just performing their duty.
Gondal also informed Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar about his decision of not seeking an apology from Khawar, police sources said.
He was then transferred, reportedly for refusing to seek an apology from Khawar. Sources in the government said the provincial chief minister had asked Khawar and the DPO to settle the matter.
