KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Memon was shifted to central jail on Saturday after alcohol, drugs and cigarette packets were found from his hospital room.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar paid a surprise visit to Sharjeel Memon‘s hospital room where he found bottles of alcohol, drugs and cigarette packets.

CJP Nisar visited hospital rooms of VIP prisoners earlier today. The Supreme Court chief justice visited Dr Asim’s private hospital where Memon is seeking medical attention.

Nisar had a brief stay at Memon’s room where he found bottles of alcohol, cigarette packets and drugs.

Following his visit to several hospitals across the city, the CJP then summoned the attorney general at the Supreme Court Karachi registry and questioned him over the issue.

“You have done commendable work, but you need to pay more attention. I found drugs and alcohol in Sharjeel Memon’s room, which he claims are not his,” the CJP said.

Justice Nisar also paid surprised visits to Jinnah Hospital and NICOD.
