Capital set to ‘celebrate’ Valentine’s Day

ISLAMABAD: Love birds have completed all arrangements for holding private parties on the eve of Valentine’s Day, but on the other hand the IG federal police has constituted several raiding parties to upset the celebrations. The sources said that the enthusiasts have planned the celebrations of Valentine’s Day in the posh areas of Islamabad including F-10, E-11, Jinnah Super, Super Market and in some of private farm houses located in Zone-V, for which the ultra modern families of the capital had invited their friends a week ago. The police started its actions on Monday in this connection as the Police Station Kohsar arrested a couple from a park in F-7 sector in an objectionable condition. It is pertinent to mention here the district administration have banned the Valentine’s Day and Basant and special instructions have been issued to the police for cracking down on these events. The sources said that the sale of liquor is going on freely in the federal capital Islamabad, but the police officials did not bother to stop the illegal wine trade as they receive a hefty bribe. The sources said that the Eagle Squad of the Capital Territory Police had stopped liquor consignments at Club Road and Embassy Road but they allowed it after taking a handsome amount from the bootleggers. A police officer on the condition of secrecy told this scribe that some months ago the Interior Ministry had also issued special instructions to the police to finish these “colourful activities” and the police had commenced operations against it, but due to pressure from different quarters of the high-ups of the police after they prevented the SHOs of the police stations from taking action. However on Monday they issued orders to start operations once again.
