Lodhi urges UNSC to help stop campaign depicting Islam as terrorism

Author: PPI

NEW YORK: Pakistan has urged the United Nations (UN) Security Council to focus on assuring that the global campaign against terrorism not be reduced to a slogan slandering Islam or any other religion or race.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UN, Maleeha Lodhi stated this during an open debate of the Security Council on “Protection of Critical Infrastructure against Terrorist Attacks”.

Lodhi called for a closer examination of into why, despite the global counter terrorism campaign, the terrorist threat continued to evolve into more virulent forms and posed a pervasive danger to international and national peace and security.

Ambassador Lodhi urged the Security Council to address the underlying causes that create terrorist recruits. She said that Pakistan was committed to defeating and eliminating terrorism.
