LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has submitted his nomination papers to contest by-election from NA-131, a seat which was vacated by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.
In July 25 general elections, Rafique was defeated by Imran with the margin of 680 votes. However, the PTI chairman, who emerged victorious in five constituencies, decided to keep his hometown seat NA-95 Mianwali.
Following this, the former railways minister was issued ticket by his party to contest the by-election in the constituency.
On the other hand, Waleed Iqbal is the PTI’s expected candidate for the by-election.
Moreover, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will contest by-election from NA-124 constituency, the seat left vacant by Hamza Shehbaz.
ECP has announced conduct of by-polls countrywide on October 14.
