GUJRANWALA: Life in Gujranwala and its adjoining region has come to a standstill due to unannounced and prolonged power outages of up to 10 to 12 hours a day.

“We are suffering sleepless nights due to electricity load-shedding after every two hours,” residents of Gujranwala told Daily Times.

Meanwhile, power outages in Rahwali and Cantt areas have been increasing day by day. The residents further alleged that they had been receiving inflated bills with incorrect meter readings.

Several businessmen also complained of reduced production rate in their industries as many feeders supplying power to the industries tripped.

What further irked them was spending more money on alternative sources of power supply, besides a significant rise in production costs of valuables in the industries.

They appealed to the government for devising an effective policy for the distribution of power to save industries as trade deficit has been increasing.
