After the initial surrounding of the news that Prime Minister Imran Khan is likely to miss United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session scheduled to be held in September 2018 to concentrate on the internal matters, it has been reported that PM has sought time from the foreign office to further think on the matter.

“Foreign office is awaiting the final decision by the Prime Minister after which foreign office would make its strategy”, foreign secretary Tehmina Janjua told Daily Times.

She said that no decision has yet been made by the Prime Minister, and in case of a positive response from PM, foreign office and Pakistan mission to the UN would line up Prime Minister’s meetings on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the UNGA.

It has been told that during his visit to the foreign office Prime Minister Imran Khan was strongly recommended to represent Pakistan in next month UN general Assembly session, with a view that Prime Minister could also avail the opportunity by meeting over 50 different world leaders, US based corporate leaders, media personnel and people from academia.

Earlier, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN Dr. Maleeha Lodhi had already met Prime Minister Khan at his Bani Gala residence, a week before his official swearing in and had discussed with him issues related to UN.
