Hundreds of students of the Government Muslim High Secondary School flocked to Larkana press club on Wednesday while protesting against an enforced disappearance of a teacher Muhammad Essa Memon allegedly by masked men a day earlier.

Reportedly, Sindh United Party (SUP) leaders, Government Secondary Teachers Association (GSTA) representatives, Sindhi Adabi Sangat (SAS) leaders, social activists, his parents and fellow teachers also participated in the demonstration while holding banners and chanting full-throat slogans “Release Our Teacher” and “Release our Baba”.

Meanwhile, SUP leader Dr Mazhar Mughal, his mother Ayesha Memon, Essa Memon’s family members, social worker Hyder Joyo and the school’s teachers claimed that the abducted teacher was not involved in any anti-state activity while they believed in parliamentary politics only.

They said that Essa was reading a book in the library of Municipal High School when he was whisked away by masked men.

Government Secondary Teachers Association (GSTA) leaders including GM Abro, Samad Khokhar and others strongly condemned his disappearance.

SAS leaders Manzoor Mangi, Yasir Junejo and others asserted that Essa Memon was a secretary of SAS in Dokri and Bakrani Taluka, and authored six books.

Angry protesters said that the World would observe the International Day of the Disappeared on August 30 with commemoration while the family, friends and colleagues of Essa Memon would be hopeless without assistance from the concerned government officials in his release.

They recalled that Essa has been working as an honorary lecturer with an aim to complete MPhil and PhD from Sindh University in Larkana.

They appealed to the concerned authorities and law enforcement agencies for an immediate release of Essa Memon.
