Omni Group owner’s son shifted to hospital after ‘stomach pain’

Abdul Ghani Majeed, son of Omni Group owner Anwar Majeed was shifted to Jinnah Hospital on Monday because he complained of stomach pain.

Anwar Majeed and his son were under physical remand in a money laundering case.

Reportedly, Abdul Ghani Majeed was brought to the hospital at 3 in the morning because he had stomach ache.

According to Jinnah Hospital’s administration, Abdul Ghani Majeed’s medical tests are being conducted.

Earlier on August 25, Karachi City Court had extended the physical remand of Chairman Omni Group, Anwar Majeed and his son till August 27 (Monday).

On Monday, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team presented Abdul Ghani Majeed in the court. Anwar Majeed was not presented in the court due to health reasons.

During the hearing, the court ordered that medical reports of Anwar Majeed be presented in the next hearing.

Earlier on August 17, a banking court in Karachi had approved the physical remand of former president Asif Zardari s close aide Anwar Majeed and his son Abdul Ghani till August 24 in a money laundering case.

Before this, on August 16, Anwar Majeed his son Abdul Ghani was presented in the court of Judicial Magistrate Rizwanuddin in Islamabad.

Federal Investigation Agency arrested Anwar Majeed and his son Abdul Ghani Majeed from the premises of Supreme Court for investigation of alleged money laundering through fake bank accounts. During the hearing in the court of Judicial Magistrate FIA requested that Anwar Majeed be shifted to Karachi from Isalamabad.

Later, Omni Group Head Anwar was transported to Karachi from Islamabad by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

In a video footage, the FIA could be seen trying to handcuff Majeed and his son Abdul Ghani in the airport lounge. The video showed Majeed snatching the handcuffs from FIA officials and throwing them on the floor. The two were eventually shifted to the FIA commercial banking circle. The court also ordered to place names of Anwar Majeed and his family members on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Anwar Majeed and his son were arrested from outside an apex court by the FIA on August 15.
