Police officials to face stern action: DIG Arif

KARACHI: Deputy Inspector General of Police, Karachi East Muhammad Arif Hanif has assured the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) to retrieve all lands and projects of ABAD members from land mafia and those police officials will face stern departmental actions who are involved in illegal occupation of land.

He was addressing a meeting at the ABAD House here on Tuesday. The meeting was organized in regard of the complaints filed by builders and developers. Chairman ABAD Mohsin Sheikhani, Senior Vice Chairman ABAD Muhammad Hassan Bakshi, Convener law and order committee Sohail Warind, Mustufa Sheikhani, SSP East Faisal Abdullah, SP Gulshan-e-Iqbal Dr. Fahad, ADC Muhammad Khan Rind and a large number of police officials and members of ABAD were also present on this occasion.

The DIG East said that the role of ABAD for the development of the country is important and many allied industries are also developing with construction sector. He announced that a committee involving police officers and ABAD members is being established and the police will take stern action against land mafia in light of committee’s recommendation. Replying to complaints from a number of builder regarding involvement of police officials in illegal occupation of their lands and projects, he said that stern action will be taken against such police officials and even they will be demoted if found involved into illegal activities.

He said that land mafias are fabricating land documents and to squash such activities a forum involving members of ABAD, revenue department, KDA, KMC and water board should be established.

Earlier, addressing the meeting chairman ABAD Mohsin Sheikhani said that we can only flourish with the development of the city and for that a district should be chosen to make it a model district with mutual cooperation of ABAD and the police department. He said that land grabbing cases in Gulistan-e-Jauhar are increases where land mafias are occupying lands on gun point and Bhatta Mafias are attacking offices of our members, who are refusing to pay Bhatta. He acknowledged that law and order are improved in Karachi after aggressive operation of Law Enforcing Agencies otherwise our members were paying Bhatta to mafias silently.

On this occasion a Fatiha Khwani was also held for the departed souls of Lahore blast.
