ISLAMABAD: The Federal Police have started nabbing poor labourers who are found selling flowers and red balloons along road sides following the issuance of written orders on the imposition of ban on celebrating Valentine’s Day while the scions of affluent segments of the society and burger families kept on flouting this ban in star studded hawk-eyed sensualities hotels in the VIP sectors of the federal capital.

Well-placed sources told Daily Times that the Federal Police started a crackdown on flower and balloons sellers on road sides in pursuance of the imposition of ban on celebrating Valentine’s Day.

But this operation triggered a backlash.

Police sources said the senior police officers severely reprimanded police personnel found involved in embarrassing poor flowers vendors and balloon sellers. These policemen deprived the poor labourers of their hard earned daily income besides grabbing their balloons and flowers. The Federal Police jawans huddled the labourers in their van and took them to police stations to make them caged guests.

Police sources told Daily Times when these acts came to knowledge of senior police officers they severely reprimanded them and warned them against this highhandedness. Then the labourers were set free.

Special functions were held in five stars hotels, farm houses and other posh areas while the police avoided to take any action against the VIPs who satiated their thirst by luxuriating in the weak moments of life in these no go areas for commoners and safe havens for the opulent.

Islamabad High Court on Monday had imposed a ban on celebrating Valentine’s Day and Basant. Khanna Police arrested one Faizan for allegedly selling kites near Zia Masjid and the duty officer Abbas kept him in habeas corpus for six hours in the police station for not giving bribery. Later action was taken against him late in the night.

When contacted the said police officer told Daily Times that he was selling kites, therefore, an FIR had been registered against him.
