WMC fails to dispose of animal waste in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: The Waste Management Company (WMC), despite of formulating a comprehensive plan, has failed in timely lifting and disposal of offal and animal wastes during Eidul Azha in the provincial metropolis.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner had claimed to have chalked out a plan for a speedy removal of offal.

However, a large quantity of animal guts and waste, scattered on many roads and streets of the city, has yet to be lifted by WMC.

Meanwhile, the offal has been causing severe problems for the residents, and could transmit diseases as well.

The residents of Gujranwala have appealed to the deputy commissioner to order WMC officials for taking concrete steps on priority basis for lifting waste of sacrificed animals.

Lahore Qalandars’ trials begin to unearth talent for cricket

A two-day Lahore Qalandars’ development programme was initiated on Sunday at Jinnah Stadium in Gujranwala.

Reportedly, a large number of young cricketers from the district participated in the event.

Director Operation Aqib Javed said that on first day of the programme about 500 youths took part in the trials, and termed it as ‘an amazing opportunity for youths’.

He said that only 16 youths would be selected from the total 500 on second-day trial.

He expressed hope that the youths of Gujranwala were talented for performing on the national level in the near future.

Boy dies after slipping in tube-well

A 12-year-old boy died on Sunday while taking bath in a tube-well in Dogranwala area of Gujranwala.

Reportedly, Haseeb slipped and received fatal head injuries while taking bath in a tube-well.

He was being rushed to the DHQ Hospital but died died in an ambulance en route to hospital.
