Usman Buzdar takes oath as Punjab chief minister at Governor’s House

LAHORE: Sardar Usman Ahmed Khan Buzdar took oath of the post of chief minister Punjab at the Governor’s House on Monday.

Acting Governor Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi administered the oath. Governor designate Chaudhry Sarwar, members of the Assembly, former Punjab caretaker chief minister Dr Hassan Askari, former caretaker ministers, chief secretary, Inspector General Police, high officials and people from different walks of life attended the ceremony.

Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and former caretaker CM Dr Hassan Askari and others congratulated Usman Ahmed Buzdar on taking oath of chief minister-ship and extended good wishes to him. Usman Buzdar thanked the guests for their good wishes.

After taking oath, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar moved to the CM’s office at his personal vehicle. The new incumbent was given the Guard of Honour upon arrival at the CM’s office by a smartly turned out contingent of the police. The CM inspected the Guard of Honour and met with officers and other staff of his office.

Earlier, CM Usman Buzdar had reached the Governor’s House from the airport after his arrival from Islamabad. On the occasion, he said that a culture of simplicity and austerity will be promoted by following the footprints of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Now, the nation’s money will only be spent at the welfare of the people and resources will be utilised with utmost honesty by considering them as sacred trust of the people, he added.

Meanwhile, Usman Buzdar said that he was a lieutenant of PM Imran Khan and Punjab will be run according to his leader’s vision. Every effort will be made to implement the 100-days agenda of Imran Khan and the change will be conspicuous.

“I have never done anything wrong nor will allow anybody to do so,” he added.

“We shall take the Opposition along and all decisions will be taken after consultations and consensus. Unnecessary expenditures will be reduced in the province and simplicity and austerity will be promoted at every level,” he said.

He said the post of CM will be utilised for serving the masses as “I belong to the people”.

“I have full realisation of their sufferings and problems and every moment of my life will be spent on solving the problems of the masses,” concluded the CM. Buzdar was fully confident during the oath taking ceremony.

He shook hands with Pervaiz Elahi after taking oath. The CM shook hands and affectionately hugged the people who congratulated him on the occasion. The hall echoed with the sounds of applause after the completion of oath.
