SHIKARPUR: Executive Development Center (EDC) at Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Sukkur, on Saturday, initiated a much needed program of training the school children with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills at the selected government schools of Khairpur.
The community service program, titled, “Teach for Khairpur Initiative”, was sponsored by the ex-Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah and the goal of the program was to enhance the quality of education in the schools with four fundamental initiatives: the establishment of Science laboratories in five Schools, providing the service of ‘Mobile Science Laboratory’ to schools where the labs were unavailable, the capacity-building of around 100 to 150 Senior School and High School Teachers and lastly, giving the fundamental ICT training to approximately 1,000 students make them cope with today’s digital environment.
The schools where the laboratories were to be established include Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Nizamani, Government Higher Secondary School Babarloi, Government Boys High School, Thehri, Government Girls High School, Jillani, and Government Saint Theresa’s High School, Khairpur.
These initiatives were an attempt by IBA, Sukkur to make the educational environment of Sindh healthier and more fruitful for the students of Sindh so that they could work towards the betterment of society, besides improving their lives.
In the first phase, the initiative of imparting ICT skills among school children was rolled out and the other initiatives would follow.
The training for the first phase recently commenced at the Institute of Emerging Technologies (IET) IBA, Khairpur and the trainers were from IBA, Sukkur.
