Salahuddin Khan Mehsud has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) following the oath-taking ceremony of the new Prime Minister Imran Khan. In his exclusive talk to Daily Times, a senior member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who wished to go unnamed, said that Salahuddin Mehsud has been selected unanimously as he had already served the province in an extremely diligent manner, however, a formal notification will be issued on Monday.
Salahuddin Mehsud, who is a grade 21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), however, declined to comment on the matter.
He joined PSP in 1989, and served as IG of KP from March 2017 till June 2018.
He also served in Crime Investigation Department (CID), traffic, Frontier Reserve Police (FRP) and the Counter-Terrorism Force for over two years. He is the native of South Waziristan tribal region.
