LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue Thursday urged to bring non-filers in the tax net. “There are 3.5 million registered taxpayers, out of which only around 1 million file their tax returns. The government should take all-out measures to ensure filing of returns by remaining 2.5 million individuals and businessmen,” said Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) acting President Muhammad Nasir Hameed Khan while presiding over a meeting here on Thursday. Former LCCI presidents Mian Anjum Nisar, Muhammad Ali Mian, former senior vice president Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, former vice president Kashif Anwar also spoke on the occasion. The participants of the meeting were of the view that tax department team should visit markets, if indispensable, but they should immediately stop harassing the business community.
