CM wants teaching, learning using smart boards in classrooms

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz presided over a high level meeting on Thursday to review the initiatives being taken regarding use of smart boards at schools for educating students and training teachers.

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that use of advanced technology in education sector was the need of hour. He said that the new technology would bring amazing results to this field. He boasted that the Punjab government had started this initiative in Danish Schools six years ago and students of southern Punjab were being educated through this advanced technology.

He directed officials concerned to set up a committee in this regard which will submit final recommendations within four weeks.

Speaking on the occasion, British experts briefed participants about the new technology.

Provincial ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Syed Raza Ali Gillani, Adviser Dr Umer Saif, Punjab Education Foundation Chairman Qamarul Islam Raja, additional chief secretary, sectaries of departments concerned and others attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair Umar called on the chief minister on Thursday.

During the meeting, both the leaders expressed their resolve to eliminate terrorism from the country. “The entire nation stands with the government and state institutions for the elimination of terrorism”, they added.

The governor also expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives in the suicide attack and extended his heartiest sympathies and solidarity with the bereaved families of martyrs.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said all the provinces should strive together with unity, concurrence and oneness for developed and peaceful Pakistan.

Separately, the chief minister Thursday expressed sorrow and grief over the sad demise of father of senior journalist and columnist Muhammad Aslam Khan. While extending heartiest sympathies to Muhammad Aslam Khan and the bereaved family in his condolence message, the chief minister prayed for eternal piece of the departed soul and patience for lamenting family.
