Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday slammed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for raising a ruckus in the National Assembly during the speech of prime minister-elect Imran Khan.
Addressing the Lower House, the PTI leader accused PML-N of breaking the agreement between opposition and the ruling party for allowing Imran Khan to deliver his full speech in the assembly. “Every party stood by its word except the PML-N,” Qureshi said.
“Of course why would they? The session was being broadcast live so there was a photo opportunity. Imran Khan wanted to say that he will present himself in front of the nation. He wanted to invite everyone to sit together but sadly you did not have the courage to listen to him,” he said.
Qureshi then struck a conciliatory tone and asked the opposition to play the role of a constructive opposition. “Let’s change our behaviours towards each other.
We will try to incorporate your criticism in our policies. We must also have the courage to listen to criticism,” he said. “We are aware of the challenges the country is facing. We will solve them together,” he added.
Qureshi said Imran Khan’s policies, unlike the previous PMs, will be inclusive in nature providing equal representation and opportunities to smaller provinces and religious minorities.
