KHAIRPUR: The Sindh Speakers Forum (SSF) paid rich tribute to late Abdul Sattar Edhi (Late) for his humanitarian services here on Saturday.
On the occasion of first death anniversary of Abdul late Edhi, Chairman SSF Ghaffar Mahar applauded the services of Edhi saying that philanthropist, Abdul Sattar Edhi, created Pakistan’s largest welfare organization, the Edhi Foundation.
He said Edhi worked for the alleviation of the sufferings of those around him for more than half a century. The foundation that he established became a blessing for the ill, the needy, and the neglected. Edhi provides, among other services, free medical care, and shelter for the poor, drug rehabilitation, disaster relief, and care for the orphans and handicapped, Mahar added.
He said Edhi was nominated several times for the Nobel Peace Prize, including Malala Yousafzai. Edhi received several awards including Gandhi Peace Award and the UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize.
