The Supreme Court of Pakistan has asked the KP government to provide details of the government’s expenditure on the hospitals of the province.
During the hearing on Thursday, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar issued directives for boards of different hospitals across KP, to submit a performance report, along with details of where the funds were spent.
The CJP has been critical Pakistani Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s performance in the province, earlier as well he said that even after so many claims, KP government could not construct any new hospitals or school in the province.
In a hearing in April, he talked about his visit to Lady Reading Hospital, a tertiary care facility in Peshawar, remarking that he could not see any improvement in the condition of the hospitals.
Responding to CJP’s statement, the then KP chief minister, Pervez Khattak, who was also present in hearing, said that when they took the government in 2013, condition of the schools and hospitals in KP was a total disaster and CJP would have seen a difference, had he visited them four years ago. CJP though remained unconvinced.
