Minister’s absence angers Senate chairman

Author: Online

ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani on Friday said he would not run the proceedings in the future if the government and its ministers do not give importance to the Senate.

Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz was not present when Senators Azam Swati and Sassui Palijo filed adjournment motions in the Senate on Friday about US President Donald Trump’s travel ban on citizens of seven Muslim countries. Raza Rabbani said if the government continued to avoid giving any importance to the Senate then he would not run the proceedings even if the president summons the session. Or he would run the proceedings for a short time and then leave the House under protest, he added. Opposition benches staged token walk out against Aziz’s absence.
