Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi match washed out

Author: By Mirza Iqbal Baig

SHARJAH: Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi’s Pakistan Super League match was abandoned due to rain at Sharjah Stadium here on Friday. The target for Quetta was reduced to 79 runs while the innings would have consisted of nine overs but the second innings never commenced as heavy rain took over the stadium. The target was calculated through the Duckworth-Lewis method after Peshawar scored 117 runs in 16 overs as the last four overs were knocked off the first innings to make up for time lost due to rain. In the first innings, opener Tamim Iqbal played a vital role for Peshawar as he put up 62 runs on the board. Peshawar lost three wickets in three successive overs. Eoin Morgan, Mohammad Hafeez and Kamran Akmal went cheaply. Quetta had won the toss and invited Peshawar to bat first.
