LAC arranges Azadi Night to pay tribute to national heroes

The Lahore Arts Council (LAC), on Monday, arranged an Azadi Jashan Night with celebrities in attendance and paid tribute to the national heroes who contributed in the Pakistan Movement in 1947.

The ceremony was arranged in connection to celebrate the Independence Day and was attended by the LAC Board of Governors Chairman Tauqir Nasir, LAC Executive Director Atta Muhammad Khan, drama serial writer and poet Asghar Nadeem Syed, musicians Naheed Akhtar, Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi, singers and people from all walks of life.

On the occasion, several performances were held by renowned artists. Naheed Akhtar sang famous patriotic songs like “Jiway Pakistan” and “Azeem Parcham” which enthralled the audience. Other artists like Ustad Abdul Rauf, Eman Fatima and Ashan Ashraf also performed on national songs like “I Love My Pakistan”, “Mera Paigham Pakistan,” etc.

Speaking at the occasion, Tauqir Nasir said that the Pakistan Movement was significant in the lists of greatest revolutionary movements across the world and it was a legitimate demand of the Muslims of the sub-continent to have a separate country.

He said that it was the responsibility of this nation, especially youth, to work hard for the betterment of this country. He also paid tribute to the heroes of the Pakistan Movement who sacrificed their lives for this country.

Atta Muhammad Khan said that the purpose of this night was not just to bring people close to each other under one roof and to show unity in front of the world but also to pay tribute and encourage the efforts of our artists who produce a spirit of patriotism among people through their artistic talent and present a soft picture of this country abroad.
