PM-in-waiting Imran accepts King Salman’s invitation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has accepted an invitation by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud to visit the Kingdom, the PTI said in a statement on Monday.

It said that the Saudi king felicitated the PTI chairman for winning majority in the elections held on July 25 in a telephone conversation. It said King Salman expressed that his country attached great importance to Pakistan and told Khan that Saudi Arabia sought closer ties with his government since the people of Pakistan had reposed their confidence in him. The statement said that in his response, Khan thanked the Saudi king saying that Saudi Arabia had always supported Pakistan in difficult times.

The statement also quoted the Prime Minister in waiting as saying that his party considered Saudi Arabia’s security to be of crucial importance. He said that safety of holy sites in the kingdom was part of the faith of Muslims.
