Pakistan needs tolerance, peace, progress: Bilawal

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Sunday said Pakistan needs tolerance, peace and progress and that his party is committed to meet the aspirations of the people of Pakistan.

“PPP is resolute in its ideology and its slogan and it will fulfill the promise of saving Pakistan made by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto,” Bilawal told a meeting of the PPP’s parliamentary party at Zardari House in Islamabad. The meeting was jointly chaired by Bilawal and PPPP President Asif Ali Zardari.

Bilawal said the politics of PPP is based on the issues concerning the people of Pakistan. He said that his party will raise the issues of people in the parliament. He said that PPP will tread the path of democracy and will continue to fight for the rights of the people.

Asif Zardari also addressed the gathering and said that PPP will continue to strengthen democracy in the country. He said that PPP achieved excellent results in the July 25 general elections in Sindh and that now the party needs to focus on Punjab, KP and Balochistan. He said that creation of a new province in southern Punjab is PPP’s mission as it wants the region to develop and prosper. He said that PPP will pursue its manifesto even while sitting on the opposition benches. “We all have to work together so that the last victory is of the people of Pakistan,” he said.

PPPP Secretary General Farhatullah Babar, former prime ministerYousuf Raza Gilani, former opposition leader in National Assembly Khurshid Shah, Opposition Leader in Senate Sherry Rehman, Senate Deputy Chairman Salim Mandviwala and spokesman to PPP chairman Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar also attended the meeting.
