KARACHI: The Pakistan authorities on Sunday released 26 Indian fishermen from Karachi’s Malir Jail as a goodwill gesture.

The released fishermen were shifted to Cantt Railway Station from where they would travel to Lahore and finally to India via Wagah border.

The released fishermen were presented gifts and cash prizes by the jail authorities. All of the fishermen were arrested by the authorities as they trespassed into Pakistani waters territory. The Indian prisoners appreciated the way they were treated by Pakistani jail authorities and were delighted upon their release. They also said that upon reaching India, they would request the Indian authorities to release Pakistani prisoners in reciprocation.
