Author: Staff Report

Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza of the Lahore High Court on Friday restrained the caretaker Punjab government and police from withdrawing security provided to former provincial law minister Rana Sanaullah Khan.

The court while giving interim relief to ex-law minister also sought replies from the chief secretary and Punjab Police inspector general until next week.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Rana Sanaullah challenging withdrawal of his security.

Counsel for the petitioner said that Rana Sanaullah had been provincial minister and member of the cabinet from 2008 to 2018 and he had been facing life threats before and after the recent general election.

He requested the court to restrain the government from withdrawing security given to the petitioner.
