He has been a student of the Islamic scholar and interpreter Amin Ahsan Islahi. Javed Ahmad Ghamidi is the founder of Al-Mawrid Institute of Islamic Sciences and its sister organisation Danish Sara.
His work has taken him all over the world, Australia and the United States being the most recent.
He became a member of Council of Islamic Ideology in 2006, which is a constitutional body responsible for giving legal advice on Islamic issues to the government and the Parliament. He has also taught at the Civil Services Academy from 1980 until 1991. He is running an intellectual movement similar to Wastiyya in Egypt on a local channel.

Born in 1952, Ghamidi graduated from the esteemed Government College University, Lahore, with a degree in English. Initially, he was more interested in literature and philosophy. Later on, he worked with renowned Islamic scholars like Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi and Amin Ahsan Islahi on various Islamic disciplines particularly interpretations and Islamic law.
He is a renowned writer as well and has authored books titled Maqamat, Mizan, Ikhlaqiyat, Morals & Morality and Faiths & Beliefs, among others. He has also written several books and poem compilations for children.

“After faith, the second important requirement of religion is purification of morals. This means that a person should cleanse his attitude both towards his Creator and towards his fellow human beings. This is what is termed as a righteous deed,” he wrote in one of his books.

In 2009, Ghamidi was awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence), the third highest civilian honour of Pakistan.
Ghamidi had appeared on several TV channels and appears regularly on dedicated programmes. His television audience consists of a wide target audience of men, woman and the youth.
