James Bond producers are reportedly considering Idris Elba as the next 007

Hollywood’s hottest actor, Idris Elba might be the next James Bond once Daniel Craig retires from his role.

The topic of Elba as Bond has been around since 2014, when emails were let loose during the enormous Sony hack that then-studio co-chair Amy Pascal told a colleague, “Idris should be the next Bond.”

Elba has quite strictly made sure that he will not be playing James Bond. Moreover, he thinks the next Bond should not be a man but a woman.

According to the new reports by the Independent, James Bond producers are starting to incline towards the idea of Elba taking the iconic role. Director Antoine Fuqua exposed the details of a discussion with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, in which she said “it is time” for a black actor to take on the role of Bond. Fuqua further talked who might be next in the running with Broccoli, who’s convinced the progressive shift “will happen eventually”, with Idris Elba being an alleged candidate for the role.

“The Mountain Between Us” actor is a retired kick boxer and amateur race-car driver, hence, he is perfect for the coveted role.

However, according to the critics his age could be the only factor for not getting the role of James Bond. Elba is currently 45 years old.
