LAYYAH: Five terrorists were shot down in Layyah after personnel of the counter-terrorism department (CTD) raided a terrorist hideout in the early hours of Sunday.
CTD stated that three suspects managed to flee from the hideout and they would be arrested as soon as possible and claimed that the heavy weapon cache and maps of high security zones were recovered from the hideout.
It was also stated that these terrorists were plotting to attack a religious site in Multan and were said to be linked to the Jamatul Ahrar, the banned outfit that took responsibility for last week’s terrorist attacks across the country.
73 alleged suspects had already been arrested after multiple raids were conducted all across the country and a number of Afghan nationals had also been apprehended.
Authorities informed that the terrorists, who were affiliated with proscribed organization Jamat-ul-Ahrar, wanted to target a sensitive religious site in Multan.
A few Afghan nationals were also apprehended in the raid.
