ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar expressed resentment over the delays faced in the Nandipur power project corruption scandal.

A 2011 petition was restored by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Khawaja Asif against alleged corruption in the construction of the power plant. According to a report by Justice Rehmat Hussain Jafri submitted in court, the delays and negligence of then-law minister cost the national exchequer Rs113 billion.

Khawaja Asif told the CJP that he wants the reference to be filed, noting the financial loss because of the law minister’s legal advice.
