Noonari said that Supreme Court has no authority to forcibly impose its decisions on issues concerning life and death of the nation. Noonari shed light on the precarious situation of water in the Province by saying that” acres of fertile land of Sindh have turned barren due to acute shortage of water during last 10 years ”. This annihilation of resources is not only restricted to land but to mangrove forests, coastal lands and animal life as well.
Noonari further said that, on one hand Sindh is going through drought and on the other hand, CJP is adding insult to the injury by forcing constructions of dams.” 3 out of 4 provincial assemblies have declared Kala Bagh Dam hazardous for the country”, said Noonari. If CJP still wants to go with such controversial initiatives, it would be against the solidarity of Pakistan.
Noonari added that building of dam by force is not justified at all. ”Setting up of “dam fund” and recovering funds from government employees on force is tantamount to judicial Bhata Khori which must come to an end’.
He clarified his position by saying that he is not against the creation of dams but such dams which would only irrigate lands of Punjab and would render smaller provinces barren, would not be tolerated.
Noonari demanded to build dam in Thar for cultivation of barren lands and also to implement Indus River accords of 1960 and water accord of 1992 between Punjab and Sindh.
