KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif has filed a request in the Sindh High Court (SHC) for the recounting of votes in NA-249, Karachi.
Shahbaz Sharif’s request reads that even prior to polling the political atmosphere was engineered to favor his opponent Faisal Vawda. He alleged that security officers were ordered to take of his posters in order to vandalize his campaigning.
Shahbaz further stated in his request that his polling agents were pushed out of the polling stations during counting and were not handed the form 45 either.
He also stated that the returning officer of NA-249 has already rejected his appeal for a recounting of votes and further said such a decision was “illegal.”
His final note in his appeal was that the Election Commission should not, as of yet, issue a victory notification to Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf’s (PTI) Faisal Vawda.
