The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will notify newly-elected members of the national and provincial assemblies today.

Newly-elected members submitted the return of election expenses to the ECP through Form C earlier.

ECP has received details of expenses incurred from 269 candidates of the National Assembly, 295 Punjab Assembly candidates, 129 from Sindh Assembly, 97 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 49 from Balochistan.

Currently, ECP has to determine the strength of all political parties in the national and provincial assemblies. Following that, the comission shall issue a notification of successful candidates from reserved seats.

Following the general elections, some challenges in courts will cause the ECP to withold notification of candidates from challenged constitutiencies.

Assembly sessions shall be called after the ECP notifies all successful candidates.

Candidates, after taking oath in the National Assembly, shall elect the speaker of the House along with the prime minister.

Pakistan voted in General Elections on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. Voters from over 85,000 constituencies of the national and provincial assemblies cast ballots in favour of the 11,855 contesting candidates.

With 116 seats, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged as the winner in the National Assembly. The party also had a landslide victory in Khyber Pakhtunwa – where it formed a government over the past five year.
