HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry (HCSTSI) on Monday urged the newly-elected members of the National Assembly to improve the cleanliness and sanitation situation in Hyderabad, according to a joint statement issued by the HCSTSI president Akram Ansari, senior vice-president Sikendar Rajput and vice-president Daulatram Lohana.
Reportedly, they said that the new government would need to adopt effective measures, check and control system over the sanitation department to improve its functionality, shift heaps of garbage excavated from the drains to the dumping points
They said that piles of trash and stagnant water on potholes due to broken sewers have been posing health hazards for the residents of the area.
They accused Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC) and Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) authorities of being irresponsible and negligent which has led to broken roads, potholes, broken electric wires and poles, blocked sewerage and water lines, open manholes and water-logging in the potholes.
