Passenger smuggling foreign currency, cell phones stopped at Benazir Airport

RAWALPINDI: A customs search at Benzair International Airport has resulted in the discovery and seizure of an estimated 6,000 British pounds and 88 mobile phones from the possession of passenger.

According to reports, the passenger who was a resident of Jhelum arrived at Islamabad Airport through PIA Flight 786, from London. During a search of his luggage at the airport, 6,000 pounds and 88 mobile were discovered.

Airport officials said that the suspect during the search of his luggage fled and managed to escape through Rawal lounge.

Custom officials took the mobile phones and currency into their custody and have started an investigation.
