The youth needs to come forward and join politics: Shujaat Hussain

Author: Staff Report

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PMLQ) President and former prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has urged the younger generation to come forward in the field of politics.

“Moonis Elahi and Hussein Elahi, sons of our home, ventured into politics so this is an example,” he said.

“I have decided in the larger national interest and on the insistence of Sardar Mumtaz Tamman and residents of the area to contest by-election from NA-65 so that I may be of some help for the betterment of the country and the nation through understanding between the government and the opposition. I have been the PM, senator and also the Member of the National Assembly (MNA) six times. After the premiership, no question arises now to accept any ministry or government office,” PMLQ President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said.

He said this while talking to different delegations from Talagang and Chakwal at his residence on Sunday.

Expressing gratitude, he said that losing and winning is part of the election. The real thing is due care paid to Pakistan and its people and for them to be served in any manner. Insha Allah, I after being elected will try my level best to come up to the expectations of the people of the area, he said, adding, “I have lot of expectations from the younger generation. All the elders like me should encourage them. My brother Wajahat Hussain’s 26-year-old son Hussein Elahi, has been elected MNA with a majority of 37,000 votes whereas Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s son Moonis Elahi in the last election had become Member of Provincial Assembly, defeating his rival by more than 26,000 votes. Masha Allah, both are educated and have the capability and spirit of coming up to the peoples’ expectations. The family and party have high hopes from them.”

Shujaat Hussain said that if no work is done for the country and the nation in accordance with the requirements of the prevailing circumstances, brushing aside personal differences and interests then no country will be ready to help us. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has spelt out a plan for the betterment of the country and he has the spirit also. As such it is the duty of all of us to ensure his success so that the country attains marked improvement, he added.
