Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing, while talking about China’s commitment to Pakistan, said that China wants to see Pakistan developing and prospering for a sustainable future.

Speaking at a ceremony held at the China Study Centre, he said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is an example of China showing active support to Pakistan, both economically and strategically. “China wants to see Pakistan a developed and prosperous country,” Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing said.

“CPEC demonstrates our commitment and support to Pakistan,” Yao Jing said at the launching ceremony of Sustainable Development Policy Institute’s China Study Centre in Islamabad.

CPEC is not the only determinant of Pakistan-China relationship, “our relationship is historic which has lasted for decades”.

He said that the governments as well as the people of both China and Pakistan are committed to further strengthening the ties.

“Our relationship with Pakistan is of mutual cooperation and not competition,” he said.

Caretaker Minister of Finance Dr Shamshad Akhtar speaking on the occasion asserted that Pakistan should take maximum advantage from one time opportunity of CPEC, which could open up more corridors of cooperation in the region and the world.

Dr Shamshad Akhtar said the centre could help bridge the policy-research gap. She hoped the centre will produce high quality research for informed policy making.
