The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) food department has served 156 different food outlets with notices for selling substandard food items.
According to the RCB food department’s monthly progress report, 40 cases of unhygienic conditions in different food outlets had been referred to the Senior Judicial Magistrate (SJM) while Rs 61,200 had been collected by SJM on 30 different food cases.
Report shows, the department has collected Rs 73,000 in category of fee under food laws. During the month of July, total recovery of the department was more than Rs 0.3 million.
The department has also sealed four food outlets including Ali Ice Factory, Mansoor Ice Factory, Italian Pizza at Range Road and Awami Murgh Pulao at Peerwadhai.
“Our prime responsibility is to ensure provision of safe and healthy food items to the citizens at all hotels, restaurants and other food outlets within the jurisdiction of the RCB. Our team visits the market regularly and takes action against any violator of food laws,” RCB Food Department Head Waris Bhatti said while talking exclusively to Daily Times.
