The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has given go-ahead for investigation into alleged illegal occupation of land by Bahria Town in Murree.
A meeting of the NAB executive board presided over by its chairman also green-lighted several inquiries against politicians and government officials.
Some of the cases that the accountability watchdog will be investigating in the coming days are Bahria Town’s alleged illegal acquisition of land for its New Murree development project and former finance minister Ishaq Dar’s illegal awarding of contracts to a mobile company. Former PTA chairperson Ismail Shah, Ishaq Dar and former information technology and telecommunication minister Anusha Rehman will be questioned in the case.
The case revolves around contracts for the next generation mobile services. The former ministers and PTA chairperson are accused of illegally awarding the contracts. Also accused in the case are Senator Rubina Khalid, former principal secretary to prime minister Fawad Hassan Fawad, former Balochistan minister Sadiq Ali Umrani and Overseas Pakistanis Comissioner Afzaal Bhatti.
NAB will also be launching inquiries against officials of the Peshawar BRT project, the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower project and the Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
