Sethi ‘ignores’ PCB in distribution of tickets

Author: Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: As all the franchises participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) agreed to play the PSL final in Lahore as planned by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), PSL Chairman Najam Sethi has totally ‘bypassed’ the cricket board in distribution of tickets for the final match of the second edition set to be played at Gaddaffi Stadium on March 7.

The special boxes are now virtually a ‘no-go area’ for anyone from the general public as Sethi conveyed to the PCB that all the cabins have already been reserved on the directions of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Najam Sethi has reportedly invited Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and chief ministers of all the provinces to watch final match of PSL 2017 being played at the Gaddafi Stadium.

The PCB has expressed serious reservations over being bypassed by Najam Sethi in the process of distribution of tickets for the final match. A meeting is being held at the board headquarters today where the situation will be reviewed and a strategy will be thrashed out to get Sethi’s decision reverted.

As cricket lovers expressed excitement and happiness over the game returning to the ‘heart of Pakistan’ – as Lahore is commonly called – the PCB thinks that ‘flawed policy’ adopted by Najam Sethi on distribution of tickets can sabotage the whole activity. “The entire game of cricket has been held hostage to a single person,” an official of the PCB commented, in a veiled reference to Najam Sethi.
