Khairpur DSP allegedly commits suicide

KHAIRPUR: The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mir Khair Muhammad allegedly committed suicide on Saturday by shooting himself with his own service pistol in Rahuja village near Pir Jo Goth, a city in the Kingri subdivision of Khairpur District.

Reportedly, the DSP rank officer was undergoing a difficult and stressful period in his life after being transferred to Jacobabad, recently.

On the day before, he took a day off work, and came back to his native village, where he ended his life. The deceased’s body was transferred to the Pir Jo Goth Hospital for autopsy, and later handed over to his heirs.

Meanwhile, the actual cause of alleged suicide could not be ascertained while the area police started investigation into the incident.

SALU to reopen on August 6

The Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) is slated to reopen on August 6 as two and a half month summer vacations come to an end, according to the SALU registrar Prof Dr Syed Asad Raza Abidi. The buses are scheduled to be plied on their usual routes.

Meanwhile, the students were advised to attend their classes regularly for the maintenance of their attendance.

Two die, five injured in road accidents

At least two people died and five sustained critical injuries in separate road accidents on Saturday. Reportedly, a speedy car rammed into a motorcycle near Bhudo bus stop on Mehran National Highway, and consequently killed Hussain Lund, a resident of Kot Diji, on the spot and injured two people. The injured were rushed to the Kot Diji Hospital while the deceased’s body was handed over to his heirs after medico-legal formalities were completed.

The Sethraja police lodged a case against car’s driver and arrested him.

Meanwhile, a Mazda pickup’s driver, on its way to Ghotki from Sukkur, ploughed into a truck on National Highway near Sangi village.

Resultantly, Muhammad Arif Chohan, a resident of Sukkur, died on the spot while the three injured were shifted to the Pano Aqil Hospital for treatment.
