On July 28, Muhammad Zubair stepped down from his position and sent his resignation to the president, citing the imminent change of government in the Centre as well as his reservations over the fairness of the electoral process on July 25. “I have performed my duty under the constitution,” he said.
His resignation came a day after the PTI, the majority party in the Centre, announced that it would change governors in Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Paklhtunkhwa.
Zubair was 32nd governor of the province. He took oath for the governorship on February 1, 2017, after the death of former governor Sindh Justice (retd) Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui.
