HYDERABAD: The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) and the The Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) on Friday held a demonstration against an alleged rigging in the recent general elections, and staged a sit-in in front of press club.

Reportedly, the GDA’s defeated candidate for NA-227, Naheed Khan led the rally, accompanied by Gulzar Jumani and others, whereas MMA’s rally was led by Maulana Taj Muhammad Nahyoon and Azam Jehaniri.

The protesters, while chanting full-throat slogans against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), accused it of manipulating elections in favour of PTI and PPP.

“Match was fixed for PPP in Sindh and PTI in Punjab,” they said while demanding an immediate resignation from the chief election commissioner for his failure to conduct elections freely, fairly and independently.

“The world has not witnessed such a massive scale rigging,” they said while questioning the loss of Rs 20 billion to the national exchequer on election arrangements.

They further demanded his trial to investigate the alleged poll rigging, and followed by a re-election across the country.

“Why polling agents of candidates of several political parties were pushed out of polling stations before counting of votes?” they said.

Five men intrude into house, harass women in Hyderabad

The Hyderabad senior superintendent of police (SSP) has failed to address a woman’s complaint of harassment and intrusion into her house allegedly by five drunken men in Lalu Machhi Goth area near Sabzi Mandi in Hyderabad.

Reportedly, her family was frightened when five suspects including a constable of the Hali Road police station intruded into her home.

Following their verbally abusive and unethical behavior, her family members screamed.

The complainants further alleged that one of them introduced himself as a terrorist named Imran Shah, and following family’s shrieks, they managed to flee from the place.

Meanwhile, the victim’s family claimed that the SSP did not take any action when her family went to file a complaint at his office.

After leaving his office, the victims said that the accused followed them on motorcycles, and to escape any possible attack, they went into hiding.

Talking to the media, they demanded high authorities to take notice about the incident and ensure their protection from the suspects.
