PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has delayed the death sentence of the perpetrator responsible for the murder of Amjad Sabri.
The perpetrator has been given a death sentence in a military court. The perpetrator’s mother Sidiqa Bibi had challenged the decision in the PHC. She claimed in the hearing today that her son was awarded a death sentence without a trial or proof.
After the hearing of the appeal filed by Siddiqa Bibi, the three member bench of the court delayed the death sentence and has ordered the Interior Ministry to submit its response regarding the case by 12th September.
The perpetrator has been given a death sentence by a military court on 2nd April, however, the PHC delayed the death sentence which was scheduled on 12th April.
Amjad Sabri was killed on 22 June, 2016 on his way to a television show for the Ramzan transmission segment. He was stalled by a motorcyclist and was shot dead in Liaquatbad, Karachi.
