PESHAWAR: The assistant commissioner at Tank, Dera Ismail Khan was shot dead today in the district capital.
The assistant commissioner, Karamat Ullah was targeted by unidentified gunmen at the main bazaar’s traffic point and the suspects were easily able to flee. The injured Karamat Ullah was immediately transferred to DHQ hospital but he succumbed to his injuries shortly afterwards.
Security forces have begun a thorough investigation and a search operation in the area. DPO Arif Khan said that the assistant commissioner was on his way to work from home when he was shot down.
Initial inquires have revealed that Karamat Ullah has some personal rivalries which may have been responsible for his death. Further investigation remains underway.
