In order to be a successful grown person, it is important to take a break from the solemnity of life, every once in a while, and let your inner child take over. However, in order to do so, you’ve to make sure you never let go of your inner child so you can rely on it to be your salvation, whenever needed. Here are 5 ways to never let go of your inner child.
Refrain from thinking of yourself to be too old
Often we are presented with an opportunity to do an activity which is commonly considered to be for kids and we reject it solely based on our own thinking, driven by societal pressure, of us being too old to engage in said activity.
However, in order for us to take a break from the pressures of life we should never do so! Go ahead, jump into the ball pit, sit with your kids in the kiddie pool, race your friends to your destination just for the fun of it and never think of yourself as too old to do things that bring you joy.
Try thinking from children’s perspective
Not everything in life requires you to use all the complicated chemical equations, never-ending information on the human body’s anatomy or even general lessons you’ve learned from experiences throughout your life.
Some situations are simply joyous because they exist and require you to not think about or solve anything but just experience their natural splendor. You can always do so if you look at the world from a child’s perspective and whenever you do it is assured that you’ll learn to hang on to your inner child in the process.
Get messy
Manners, sophistication and following the rules set for every situation you’re in is extremely important in order to be a competent human being and a positive influence to the world. However, there are certain settings in which it can be considered okay to make a mess of things.
For example, if your younger sibling is finger painting, join them. Or if you have even the slightest urge to make designs out of paper cuttings, go ahead and leave your table with a clutter of pieces of paper. Indeed it is true that a little mess never hurt anybody.
Reminisce
Not letting the memories of your childhood slip your mind and always keeping them in their most vivid and elaborate form in the corner of your head is a great way to stay close to your inner child. After all, that is where your inner child originated.
Let go
This might be a little confusing to understand but in order to make sure your inner child resides near your soul, you need to learn to let go of other things in your life, especially things that aren’t beneficial to your being.
This will result from you learning to avoid holding grudges, making correct judgments when it’s time to move on from certain people in life and never being hesitant to step outside of your comfort zone. Much like a child, you’ll then be all about taking risks and not thinking about something when it’ll do you no good.
