KARACHI: A woman was wounded when unidentified armed gangsters hurled a hand grenade in a troubled Lyari neighbourhood on Tuesday.
Police officials said that at least two armed men riding a motorcycle threw a hand grenade near Afshani building in the Kalakot area of Lyari, injuring a passerby. The injured, Nisa Bibi, was shifted to Civil Hospital in Karachi for medical treatment where doctors termed her condition out of danger. SHO Ayaz Khan said that the area where the incident occurred is a stronghold area of the Lyari’s kingpin Uzair Baloch who is imprisoned in Central Jail, Karachi after he was arrested by Rangers last year. A suspicious briefcase was found from the National Oil Trading Shop near Preedy police station, said a BDS expert.
