MPA-elect Sohail Siyal terms elections ‘toughest’ for PPP

LARKANA: The Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) MPA-elect from PS-12 (Larkana-III) and former provincial home minister Sohail Anwar Siyal on Sunday denounced ‘an organised conspiracy’ against PPP during the recent general elections which he termed as the toughest elections in the entire history of the party.

Reportedly, he addressed a press conference at Larkana press club, and asserted that a fact finding committee would precisely examine the causes of PPP’s defeat in certain constituencies, particularly PS-11.

“A stern action would be taken against whosoever was involved in conspiracies against the party’s election campaign, or derogated from the party’s discipline,” he said, adding that the general public of Sindh has expressed faith in PPP as the party has won more seats than the previous elections in 2013.

He further said that the so called ‘Ittehads’ (alliance) were rejected once again. “The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) has won some seats, but could not acquire enough votes to serve masses,” he said, adding that MQM-P was also rejected from the people of Karachi.

Siyal said that PPP belonged to Larkana and the Larkanians belong to PPP, and the party would formulate new and effective policies for development projects in Larkana.

He further claimed that due to a cracker blast on the polling day, the people of Sindh did not come out of their homes, which heavily affected the overall turnout of voters. “Bilawal has emerged as a role model for youths across the country,” he said, adding that PPP aims to initiate several development works across Sindh and the incomplete projects would be completed within next six months. He asserted that devastating floods in 2010 devastated entire infrastructure of Sindh, and therefore the provincial government would need heavy investments to rebuild the necessary infrastructure.

Two policemen arrested for stealing motorcycle in Larkana

Two policemen were arrested on Sunday for allegedly stealing a motorcycle from Bundar road about 16 days ago.

Reportedly, a complainant Shafqat Nawaz Chandio informed the Civil Lines police officers that he lodged a report at the Waleed police station about his stolen motorcycle.

Later, he spotted police constables Amir Ali Brohi and Naseer Ahmed Abro riding his motorcycle on Bundar road. The constables beat him when he intercepted them.

However, he was rescued by passersby and patrolling policemen.

Following his complaint, the Civil Lines policemen detained both of them, who were identified as police constables of the Waleed police station.

Meanwhile, the station house officer (SHO) Anwar Ali Brohi tried to get them released from the police custody, but then left quietly when he saw enraged bike owners in the Civil Lines police station.

Chandio appealed to the Sindh inspector general of police (IGP), the Larkana deputy inspector general of police (DIG) and other concerned officials to take notice of the incident, and take a stern action against ‘black sheep’ in the police department.
