LAHORE: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) on Sunday has dismissed the Vice Chancellor Lahore University for Women Dr. Uzma Quraishi after a court hearing at Supreme Court’s Lahore registry.

The petitioner had challenged the appointment of Dr. Uzma as the VC claiming that it was not based on merit. A report of the court’s findings was presented to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) today and Dr. Uzma was dismissed.

The Chief Justice has ordered the appointment of a new VC within 30 days and a senior professor is to hold charge in the meantime.

The CJP has also sought a report on the appointment of the Dean of Allama Iqbal Open University.
